Park Jin Young of GOT7 is in talks to star in the upcoming historical drama Haesi’s New Path (literal translation), potentially adding another project to his already busy acting schedule. The news comes ahead of his appearance in the upcoming tvN drama 100 Days of Deception, which premieres next month.
Park Jin Young’s agency, BH Entertainment, told TopStarNews on September 16 that the drama is “one of the projects that has been offered to him.”
Haesi’s New Path is based on a popular web novel of the same name. The drama will follow the romance between Lee Hyang, a brilliant monarch in 15th-century Joseon, and Hae Ru, a mysterious woman with the ability to foresee the future.
The script will be written by Yoon Yi Soo, the original author of the web novel. Yoon also wrote the original novel that inspired the 2016 KBS2 hit drama Love in the Moonlight.
Park Jin Young has reportedly been offered the role of Crown Prince Lee Hyang, a brilliant scientist and future monarch determined to advance Joseon through science and innovation. If he accepts the role, it would mark his first major historical drama. He previously appeared in traditional Korean clothing in SBS’s The Legend of the Blue Sea, playing the younger version of Lee Min Ho’s character.
Before then, Park Jin Young will return to the small screen in 100 Days of Deception, where he will play Kim Tae Woong, the adopted son of the Prime Minister and a newly appointed elite interpreter for the Japanese Government-General of Korea. His character also goes by the Japanese name Hideo Sato .
Jeon So Young has reportedly been cast as Hae Ru, the female lead. Hae Ru has the ability to see the future and happens to cross paths with Crown Prince Lee Hyang. She eventually enters the palace with him, develops feelings for him, and helps him navigate the challenges he faces.
Jeon So Young made her acting debut in 2005 with KBS2’s KICKKICKKICKKICK and has since appeared in projects including ENA’s Honour, Netflix’s If Wishes Could Kill, and tvN’s The Legend of Kitchen Soldier.
Meanwhile, 100 Days of Deception will premiere on October 10 at 9:10 p.m. KST and air every Saturday and Sunday on tvN.
