Lee Joon Gi is returning to the small screen after three years, taking on the role of a brilliant surgeon whose daughter is kidnapped in Channel A’s new thriller kiDnap GAME.
Premiering October 6th, the series centers on an unprecedented wave of kidnappings that unfold simultaneously across seven Asian cities: Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila and Naha. The international project is a Korean, Japanese and Hong Kong co-production and also stars Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi.
New stills released September 15th offer a first look at Lee as Han Ki Joo, a highly skilled surgeon from Seoul who has left the medical field for undisclosed reasons. Once regarded as one of the best in his profession, he now lives quietly in near-retirement, occasionally advising younger doctors.
His life is shattered when his young daughter is kidnapped. Desperate to get her back, Ki Joo is drawn into a mysterious “kidnap game” that forces him to make increasingly difficult choices between his principles as a doctor who has dedicated his life to saving others and his instincts as a father determined to save his child.
Known for genre-driven dramas including Time Between Dog and Wolf, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo and Flower of Evil, Lee has frequently portrayed characters pushed to their limits.
“Lee Joon Gi vividly captures the desperation of a father willing to cross his limits to save his daughter,” the production team said. “Amid a series of unpredictable dilemmas, we believe the intense suspense that only he can deliver will create an even more powerful synergy.”
kiDnap GAME premieres October 6th at 10 PM KST on Channel A.
