Choi Hyun Wook is facing another criticism after appearing heavily intoxicated during an early-morning livestream with fans.

The actor went live through his official social media account on August 30th, drawing reactions ranging from excitement to concern from Korean and international viewers over his apparent level of intoxication.

Noticing the number of overseas fans in the stream, Choi said, “It looks like there are a lot of foreigners here. The translation will probably take care of itself, but you have to treat Koreans well. Seriously.”

He also commented on his appearance, saying, “Don’t I look really ugly right now? It’s because I’m a pig. A pig.”

As viewers questioned why he was livestreaming while drunk so early in the morning, Choi responded, “Koreans will be asleep at this hour. So there’s no one to stop me.”

The broadcast has renewed scrutiny around the actor, who has previously faced several public controversies.

In 2023, footage circulated online showing Choi smoking with friends on the streets and tossing a cigarette butt onto the ground. He was fined over the incident and later issued a handwritten apology.

The following year, Choi accidentally exposed part of his body in a photo he posted himself after his reflection appeared on the shiny surface of a bear-shaped figurine. He also drew attention after it was discovered that he followed a social media account known for posting politically provocative content.

More recently, Choi faced criticism after throwing a full-speed ceremonial first pitch over the head of a child batter at a professional baseball game. The incident drew additional backlash because Choi previously played baseball. His agency later said he had sent the child a letter of apology.

His latest livestream has once again prompted debate online, with some fans expressing concern over his behavior while others criticized him for broadcasting publicly while visibly intoxicated.
