DJ Koo has reportedly not waived his inheritance rights to the estate of his late wife, Barbie Hsu.

According to Taiwanese outlet SET News, DJ Koo is expected to enter mediation next week over Hsu’s estate, estimated at around 120 billion won (approx. $80 million).

Hsu’s mother reportedly asked Koo to sign documents renouncing his inheritance, but he has not done so.

The report also pushed back on claims that Koo voluntarily gave up his rights to Hsu’s luxury Taipei home. Instead, he reportedly moved out at the family’s request and is now renting a separate apartment.

Koo previously said he planned to give his share of Hsu’s estate to her mother.

“Everything she left behind was earned through her blood, sweat and tears to protect the family she loved,” he said at the time, adding that he intended to transfer his rights to his mother-in-law.

He also said he would take legal steps to protect the inheritance of Hsu’s two minor children until they reach adulthood.

However, SET News noted that the upcoming mediation suggests Koo has yet to formally complete any inheritance waiver. His legal representatives did not respond to requests for comment.

The talks are expected to address how Hsu’s estate will be divided, including Koo’s share and the inheritance rights of her two children with ex-husband Wang Xiaofei.

Koo and Hsu first dated in 1998 before going their separate ways. Hsu later married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and had two children before divorcing in 2021. After hearing of her divorce, Koo reached out, and the pair rekindled their romance and married in 2022.

Hsu died of acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan in February last year.

Local reports have estimated her estate at roughly 119.7 billion won, including land near the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts valued at around 8.86 billion won and a penthouse worth about 16 billion won. Under local law, Koo and Hsu’s two children are each entitled to one-third of the estate.

Hsu’s ex-husband Wang recently stated that he requested a special legal representative to protect the children’s rights and that the estate is being divided under the supervision of a court-appointed attorney.
