Seungkwan of SEVENTEEN is officially ready to add “actor” to his already impressive resume.
MyDaily reported on April 22nd that the idol is set to make his acting debut in the upcoming drama currently titled Tree Gold (literal title). Insiders reveal that he has already attended the initial script reading, signaling that production is well underway.
The series is a romance set within a unique restaurant that only opens its doors on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, focusing on the relationship between a male chef and a woman with mysterious ties to the establishment. The project has already generated massive buzz due to its powerhouse creative team; it will be directed by Jung Dong Yoon, the visionary behind hits like Stove League and Gyeongseong Creature, and written by Joo Hyun, the writer of the record-breaking drama The World of the Married. Shin Mina, Lee Jin Wook and Yoo Teo are leading the series.
This transition into acting comes during an incredibly packed year for Seungkwan. Earlier this month, he made headlines when all thirteen members of SEVENTEEN announced their second contract renewal with Pledis Entertainment during their world tour finale. Just last week, he wrapped up a successful three-day run of the DxS [Serenade] ON STAGE concerts in Incheon alongside fellow main vocal DK, performing for 24,000 fans. With upcoming sets at the Seoul Jazz Festival 2026 and a steady stream of variety show appearances, Seungkwan is arguably at the busiest point of his career.
Fans are now eager to see how his signature charm will translate to the small screen as he takes on this new creative challenge.
