Jin is setting the record straight about his absence from the credits on ARIRANG—and he’s taking it in stride.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Jin reflected on reuniting with his bandmates after military service, sharing that being back together felt both meaningful and grounding. “I missed the members a lot,” he said. “Working together again felt like filling in that time. I realized again that I’m most comfortable when I’m with them.”

He also addressed why his name doesn’t appear in the album’s credits. According to Jin, much of the project was already underway by the time he joined the process. “There were around 100 songs prepared, and most of the work had already been done when I arrived,” he explained, adding that he spent about a week to ten days helping narrow down and test tracks.

Ultimately, scheduling conflicts played a major role. Jin shared that his solo tour had been planned months in advance, making it difficult to fully participate in the songwriting sessions in Los Angeles. “If I had pushed to delay things, the album release would’ve been pushed back too,” he said. “I’m a little bummed, but considering how long fans had been waiting, it felt like the best decision at the time.”

Still, he made it clear he’s not dwelling on it. “This isn’t the only opportunity,” Jin added. “There will be plenty more chances.”

The singer also opened up about the realities of performing as a 35-year-old idol, acknowledging that things are physically more demanding now. “It’s a personal challenge,” he said. “I always want to give my best performance, so I try to practice earlier or stay longer to make up for what I feel I lack.”

As for BTS’ identity moving forward, Jin shared that while the members didn’t always see eye to eye at first, they ultimately found common ground through conversation. “We came to the conclusion that what we do is our identity,” he said. “In the end, it’s about telling the stories we want to tell.”

Looking ahead, Jin emphasized that connecting with fans remains his top priority. “More than my solo career, I want to meet fans,” he said. “Over the next five years, I want to travel to more countries and see them in person.”

For Jin, it’s less about what didn’t happen, and more about everything still to come.
