Park Eun Bin may be living every book lover’s dream. Reports indicate the star is currently considering a lead role in the upcoming historical drama The Wicked Queen, an adaptation of a novel she has publicly supported in the past.
Park Eun Bin has been offered the role of Gye Ri, a consort in the fictional Eun Dynasty known for her breathtaking beauty and twisted personality. In the original story, Gye Ri is a complex, almost antagonistic figure whose intense personality earn her the nickname “Wildflower.”
The drama follows the high-stakes romance between Gye Ri and Emperor Eon, a cold yet handsome ruler. Based on the popular web novel by Yoon Tae Roo, the series is being produced by Seen & Studio, though a broadcasting platform has yet to be finalized.
What makes this casting particularly exciting for fans is Park Eun Bin’s personal connection to the original snovel. In a previous magazine interview, the actress revealed that she is an avid reader of romance novels and specifically named The Wicked Queen as a project she was dying to see adapted for the screen. At the time, she expressed her hope that a drama version would eventually be made—never imagining she might be the one to lead it.
If she accepts, The Wicked Queen will add to an already impressive lineup for the actress. Park Eun Bin is currently preparing for the May release of the Netflix original series The WONDERfools, where she stars alongside Cha Eun Woo. She is also filming the tvN drama Spellbound, which is slated to air later this year.
Her agency, Namoo Actors, has taken a cautious but positive tone. “It is true that she has received an offer for The Wicked Queen,” the agency stated. “She is currently reviewing the script alongside several other projects. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet.”
Production is still underway to cast the roles of Emperor Eon and Gye Ri’s primary rival, Princess Inwon.
