J.Y. Park is stepping down from his position as an internal director at JYP Entertainment.
On March 10th, JYP Entertainment announced that Park will not seek reappointment to the board during the company’s upcoming shareholder meeting scheduled for the 26th.
“J.Y. Park plans to focus on his creative activities as an artist, mentoring artists, and taking on new external initiatives for the K-pop industry,” the agency said in a statement.
Since making his debut in 1994, Park has remained active as a singer, songwriter and producer, playing a major role in shaping the modern K-pop scene. He is also expected to continue contributing to the broader development of the industry going forward.
Last year, the Presidential Office announced that Park had been appointed co-chair of the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange alongside Chae Hwi Young, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
