Park Min Young is opening up about the intense physical and emotional toll of bringing her new drama Siren’s Kiss to life.
At the online press conference on February 23rd, the actress shared how deeply she immersed herself in her character Han Seol A, a suspected insurance fraudster surrounded by tragedy. “This character doesn’t eat,” she explained. “She’s dealing with so many sad, tragic things, so when she goes home, all she has is water and alcohol.” Park Min Young said she mirrored that lifestyle herself, keeping only water and alcohol at home while preparing for the role.
Siren’s Kiss is a fatal romance thriller centered on Han Seol A, a captivating woman entangled in a string of suspicious deaths, and Cha Woo Seok, the man who begins to investigate her. Park Min Young stars as Seol A, a top auctioneer at Royal Auction, opposite Wi Ha Joon as Woo Seok.
Describing her character, Park Min Young said, “She always looks professional on the outside, but when she’s alone, she’s painfully lonely.” She also revealed that she drank nearly 3 liters of water a day during filming, adding, “For some reason, I just kept drinking it.”
Her dramatic transformation previously sparked concern among fans. When she appeared at the press event for TV Chosun’s Confidence Queen while filming Siren’s Kiss, her noticeably thin frame led to speculation about possible health issues.
Some speculated that she had lost an extreme amount of weight, but Park Min Young later reassured fans on social media, writing, “I’ve been dieting in a healthy way for my role as Han Seol A, but with my recent schedule I lost a bit more weight. I am healthy, so please don’t worry.”
Reflecting on the shoot, Park Min Young admitted she pushed herself to her limits. “I even experienced ringing in my ears,” she said. “I really gave it everything I had.”
Director Kim Chul Gyu praised the cast, highlighting Park Min Young’s femme fatale appeal, Wi Ha Jun’s straightforward intensity, and Kim Jung Hyun’s mysterious charm. He teased that the series will deliver nonstop suspense “from the opening of the first episode to the final scene.”
