Yumi’s Cells Season 3 is off to a strong start, four years after its last installment.

The first two episodes of the TVING original dropped on April 13th, picking up with Yumi (played by Kim Go Eun) after achieving her dream of becoming a writer, only to find her daily life unexpectedly dull.

That changes with the arrival of her new producer, Soon Rok (Kim Jae Won), whose blunt personality shakes up Yumi’s now-quiet “cell village.”

The response has been immediate. The series shot to No. 1 in new paid subscriber contribution on TVING as soon as it premiered, reaffirming its status as one of the platform’s biggest IPs. Its tvN broadcast also ranked No. 1 in its time slot across cable channels.

According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 2 recorded a nationwide rating of 2.3%. For comparison, Season 1 peaked at 2.7%, while Season 2 topped out at 1.2%.

Season 3 opens with Yumi fully immersed in her writing career—so much so that her emotional “cells,” including her love cell, have essentially gone dormant.

Soon Rok’s arrival disrupts that balance, with his no-filter comments and socially oblivious behavior—like eating all of Yumi’s favorite snacks—quickly getting under her skin.

Still, it’s not all friction. His thoughtful feedback on her writing earns her appreciation, even as his communication style continues to frustrate her.

Tensions rise further when Yumi considers asking for a new producer—only to learn that Soon Rok has already requested the same. Their uneasy dynamic reaches a boiling point during a business trip to Busan, setting up what fans are already calling a classic “love-hate” romance.

Episodes 3 and 4 will be released on TVING on April 20th, ahead of their tvN broadcast every Monday and Tuesday.
