The beloved drama Guardian: The Lonely and Great God—better known as Goblin—is bringing its stars back together to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Originally premiering on tvN in 2016, Goblin made history as the first cable drama to surpass a 20% viewership rating. Even after its finale, the series continued to gain global popularity through international platforms, becoming one of the defining titles that helped expand the reach of K-dramas worldwide.
The show’s lasting impact came from its powerful combination of elements: the cast’s nuanced performances, writer Kim Eun Sook’s dialogue, director Lee Eung Bok’s cinematic visuals and a standout OST that dominated music charts for an extended period. Its influence carried through award season as well, sweeping major honors at the 2017 Baeksang Arts Awards, the Cable TV Broadcasting Awards and the Korea Drama Awards, cementing its status as more than just a hit series but a cultural touchstone.
Now, a decade later, the upcoming special program tentatively titled Goblin 10th Anniversary will revisit that legacy. The cast—including Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, Kim Go Eun and Yoo In Na—will take a short trip together, reflecting on iconic scenes, memorable lines and the emotional resonance the series left behind.
The special also holds added significance as part of tvN’s 20th anniversary lineup. The network shared, “We believe ‘Goblin’ remains a symbolic series that continues to be loved beyond its original broadcast. Through this 10th anniversary special, we hope to bring back viewers’ memories with tvN and rekindle the nostalgia of a life-defining drama. The laughter and emotion from that time, the unchanged chemistry between the cast even after 10 years and the lasting impression of the story will all return.”
Goblin 10th Anniversary is set to air in the first half of the year.
