Director Mo is the mastermind behind the record-breaking hit The World of the Married, raising expectations for another intense drama.
Lee has been offered the role of Kim Ji Hoon, a man in his early 40s who enjoys a stable, happy marriage until a sudden, forbidden romance strikes like a traffic accident and plunges his life into ruin.
If he accepts, this would mark Lee’s first venture into a spicy adult melodrama. Already celebrated as a “romance master” for his stunning visuals and emotional depth, Lee is expected to tackle a more mature and controversial character that will likely draw both criticism and sympathy from viewers.
Love Affair is generating buzz not just for its star, but for its potential platform. The series is reportedly in discussions for release on a global OTT platform, likely Netflix, rather than traditional cable TV. This shift suggests the show could feature even bolder themes and expressions than Mo’s previous cable hit, The World of the Married.
All eyes are now on who will play Gong Hoo Kyung, the architect with a fatal charm who entangles Kim Ji Hoon in the affair. The production team is reportedly auditioning top actresses in their early to mid-30s for the role.
Lee’s agency, KINGKONG by STARSHIP, responded cautiously to the news. “It is true that we received an offer for Love Affair and are reviewing it,” the agency stated. “A final decision will be made after confirming various details.”
