Kim Jong Kook found himself in the hot seat during a recent episode of KBS 2TV’s Problem Child in the House. Despite his attempt to show off some legal savvy, his co-stars were quick to turn his “expertise” into a hilarious interrogation about his own personal life.
The banter began when the show featured a trivia question regarding international law: “Why do many divorced couples choose to file lawsuits in London’s High Court?”
While fellow cast member Joo Woo Jae guessed it had to do with alimony, Kim Jong Kook confidently corrected him.
“It’s not about alimony; it’s about the division of assets,” Kim explained. “Alimony is usually a smaller amount, but the property division is where the big money is.”
When the cast suspiciously asked how he knew so much, Kim Jong Kook claimed he has a close friend who works as a divorce attorney. However, his co-stars weren’t buying it. Joo Woo Jae joked, “It sounds like you’re preparing for something,” while others pointed out Kim’s recent frequent trips to the UK.
Kim Jong Kook, visibly flustered, shot back that he only visits England to watch soccer, though the explanation did little to stop the teasing.
The lighthearted ribbing carries extra weight given Kim Jong Kook’s recent life changes. The singer and entertainer reportedly held a top-secret wedding ceremony in September of last year.
Keeping things intimate and away from the paparazzi’s lens, he invited only about 100 guests, consisting of close family, relatives and his inner circle. Given his newlywed status, his friends on the show clearly couldn’t resist poking fun at his sudden interest in the nuances of divorce law.
