Song Won Geun is getting married.

The actor and musical star announced the news on Instagram on August 11th, sharing a lengthy handwritten letter with fans.

“There is something I wanted to tell you carefully, and before anyone else, so I’m writing this letter,” Song began. “You’ve always been there for the precious moments throughout my journey as an actor, so I wanted to share this news with you directly first.”

Song went on to reveal that he had found someone he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

“I’m a little nervous and cautious about sharing news like this, but I’ve met the person I want to spend my life with, and I’m starting a new chapter with her,” he wrote.

He also joked about finally shedding his longtime bachelor status. “Somehow I’ve reached the age where the term ‘old bachelor’ started to suit me, but now I finally get to lose that label. Thankfully,” he wrote. “It still feels a little surreal to me, but more than anything, I’m truly happy.”

“Standing at the beginning of this new chapter called marriage, simply saying that I’m happy doesn’t feel like enough considering how grateful I am to all of you,” he added.

He added that marriage would not change his dedication to acting. “I’ll continue to learn more, think more deeply, and work even harder so I can meet you through good projects and good performances,” Song said. “Thank you sincerely for always believing in me and supporting me.”

Song made his entertainment debut in 2000 as a member of the idol group OPPA before transitioning into musical theater after landing the lead role of Lee Shin in the 2010 production of Princess Hours.

He has since built an extensive stage career with productions including Finding Mr. Destiny, Guys and Dolls, Daddy Long Legs, Story of My Life, King Arthur, The Phantom of the Opera, Red Book and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.

His television credits include Princess Aurora, Apgujeong Midnight Sun, The Bride of Habaek and Babel.
