Director Paul Feig is giving Korean audiences exactly what they asked for.

The filmmaker behind the thriller The Housemaid has released a special Q&A video addressing the top questions from Korean fans, including what a hypothetical Korean remake might look like.

Based on a global bestselling novel with more than 3.5 million copies sold worldwide, The Housemaid follows Millie, a mysterious live-in housekeeper hiding a dangerous past. When she takes a job in a pristine mansion, she becomes entangled with Nina, a wife full of secrets, and Andrew, a seemingly perfect husband—only to uncover shocking lies hidden behind closed doors. The film stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar.

Explaining why he chose to adapt the novel, Feig said, “I loved the twists and the turns of it. I loved the idea of getting to fool an audience with some big surprises, and I just thought the chance to work with these characters was just so much fun.” He added that his focus was on translating the most crowd-pleasing elements into cinematic moments, noting that Andrew’s storyline and Millie’s experiences felt especially suited for the screen.

Feig also revealed that the ending underwent a bold transformation. “The book ends in a very satisfying place for a book, but I didn’t think it was a satisfying enough place for a movie,” he explained. “You’re going to get a whole surprise because there’s a whole extra ending that is very satisfying and it sort of ties everything up with the characters.”

As for the scene he is most proud of, Feig pointed to a showdown involving Millie, Nina, and Andrew on the mansion’s staircase. “It sets you up for the whole second half of the movie,” he teased. “You’ll know what I’m talking about when you see it.”

The biggest surprise, however, came when Feig shared his Korean remake fantasy casting. “My wife is the world’s biggest K-drama fan ever, so she helped me put this together,” he said. For the role of Millie, he named IU, Kim Yoo Jung and Suzy. He cast Son Ye Jin as Nina, Hyun Bin as Andrew, and Seo In Guk as Enzo.

Closing out the video, Feig shared a warm message for Korean audiences. “This movie is already a huge hit around the world for a reason,” he said. “The cast is incredible, and the source material is just as strong.” He added, “I hope audiences in South Korea love ‘The Housemaid’ as much as we do—and as much as viewers around the world have.” Feig also noted that he has already visited Korea twice and hopes to return again very soon, further building anticipation.
