Netflix is ready to launch a new kind of romantic fantasy—one you can subscribe to.

Boyfriend on Demand will premiere March 6th, starring Jisoo as a worn-out webtoon producer who escapes reality through a virtual dating subscription service.

The rom-com follows Mi Rae, exhausted by real life, who signs up for a simulated romance experience that lets users date their ideal partner in a virtual world. The service, also called “Boyfriend on Demand,” promises dreamlike dates and emotional highs—offering a tempting alternative for anyone too busy or burned out to date in real life.

Grounded in relatable office life but elevated by a high-concept virtual romance twist, the series blends realistic adult struggles with the thrill of fantasy love. Anticipation is already building thanks to the pairing of Jisoo and Seo In Guk, as well as director Kim Jung Sik.

The newly released first poster hints at the show’s playful tone, featuring Mi Rae deep in thought beside a tongue-in-cheek checklist designed to diagnose her love life.

The teaser expands the fantasy. After subscribing, Mi Rae finds herself stepping directly into scenes ripped from romance webtoons—from cherry-blossom-filled campuses to oceanside moments just before a kiss. As real life fades away, the virtual dates take over, underscored by the question, “Who will you be dating today?”

Jisoo described the series as both escapist and emotionally grounded. “It is a story about someone who wants romance and dopamine but keeps running into real-world problems, and gradually grows through that process,” she said. “It is a lively romantic comedy with lots to enjoy visually, and I think it can give viewers that fluttering feeling by proxy—especially for anyone exhausted by the repetition of everyday life.”

Seo In Guk, who plays Gyeong Nam, highlighted the show’s unique structure. “The concept itself is very distinctive,” he said. “It shows romance in virtual reality and in real life at the same time, and moving between those two worlds is a major point to watch.”

Poised to offer viewers a fresh dose of romance, Boyfriend on Demand premieres March 6th, exclusively on Netflix.
