Cho Yoon Woo has announced both his marriage and his retirement from acting, sharing that he’s ready to begin a quieter new chapter of life.
On January 1st, Cho took to Instagram to reveal the news, writing, “After a long period of reflection, I’ve met someone precious to spend my life with. To build a simple life together, I’ve decided to step away from acting after 15 years.”
He continued, “I debuted at 21 and spent the last 15 years running toward one goal—acting. Because that time meant so much to me, this wasn’t an easy decision, and I thought about it carefully for a long time.” Cho added that he now wants to spend the rest of his life “having fun and drawing a new future” with the person he wants to protect forever.
Closing his message, he asked fans for their support, saying, “Please look kindly on the everyday life I’ll share with my longtime partner of over four years—my lover and my best friend.”
Cho made his acting debut in 2011 with tvN’s Flower Boy Ramen Shop, quickly gaining attention for his youthful charm. He went on to appear in the movie Cyrano Agency and the drama Ugly Alert.
In 2013, Cho left a strong impression with a brief but memorable role in The Heirs, where he portrayed a school violence victim targeted by Kim Woo Bin’s character. He later took on a leading role in Band of Sisters. His most recent project was the 2023 ENA drama Not Others.
