Gong Yoo Sends Heartfelt Support to ‘Sing Again 4’ Contestant After Tragic Accident

Gong Yoo has shared a moving message of support for Sing Again 4 contestant No. 18, who recently performed in a wheelchair following a serious traffic accident.

On October 22nd, the actor posted a screenshot from the JTBC show on his Instagram, writing, “I was shocked three times watching this. Once because I’ve met her before, once because of his heartbreaking story, and once because of how deeply her song ‘Truly’ moved me. You’ve left an impression—cheering you on.”

During the latest broadcast of Sing Again 4, contestant No. 18 performed Kim Kwang Jin’s classic “Truly,” earning unanimous “All Again” votes from the judges. Before her performance, she recounted the devastating accident that left her paralyzed: “While preparing for the main round, I was hit by a one-ton truck. When I came to, I was pinned beneath it. The driver kept going for several meters, and my spine was fractured in six places,” he said.

Despite the injuries, the singer expressed gratitude that her voice and arms—essential for singing and playing guitar—were spared. “I thought, ‘There are still songs I need to sing,’ so I began rehabilitation training a week ago,” he shared.

She also revealed a brief but memorable encounter with Gong Yoo while working on the OST for the actor’s Netflix series The Trunk. “I met Gong Yoo briefly when recording the ‘The Trunk’ OST. He said he was a fan of ‘Sing Again,’ and I thought, maybe if I appear on the show, he’ll leave an impression.”

After the episode aired, Gong Yoo even shared a screengrab of him playing The Trunk OST track “Savior.” He captioned it, “I really loved this song.”
