Jin Seo Yeon has drawn attention after posting a condolence message for Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was killed a few days ago.
On September 14th, Jin shared a black-and-white photo of Kirk on her Instagram Story, adding the message: “May he rest in peace.”
Kirk, a vocal supporter of the U.S. President Donald Trump, was fatally shot on September 10th while speaking at Utah Valley University. The shooting occurred during a Q&A session, and his death has continued to draw international headlines.
Her post comes just days after fellow entertainer Super Junior’s Choi Siwon shared an image on Instagram with the words “REST IN PEACE CHARLIE KIRK” and a cross, before deleting it hours later. YouTuber Haejoo, who has 830,000 subscribers, also faced criticism after liking a tribute video. She later clarified, “To be exact, I wasn’t fully aware of his political stance at the time and judged based only on a few fragmented impressions.”
Given the controversy already surrounding other celebrities’ tributes, Jin Seo Yeon’s decision to post her own message has raised concern that she, too, may face public backlash.
