Netflix has confirmed the release of its new original series Trigger, premiering globally on Friday, July 25th.
Set in gun-free South Korea, Trigger is an action thriller that unfolds as illegal firearms with no identifiable origin begin circulating through the country. As gun-related incidents skyrocket, two men—each with his own reasons—are forced to pick up a weapon. The series is directed and written by Kwon Oh Seung, who gained global attention for his film Midnight, featured at the Fantasia International Film Festival.
The series stars Kim Nam Gil as Lee Do, a police officer who takes up arms once again in the name of justice, and Kim Young Kwang as Moon Baek, a mysterious figure who aids Lee Do at the scenes of these violent crimes. The cast also includes Park Hoon, Gil Hae Yeon, and Kim Won Hae, lending dramatic weight and realism to the escalating chaos.
The newly revealed teaser poster and trailer crank up the intrigue. It shows Lee Do and Moon Baek confronting a box filled with untraceable firearms. The tagline, “Guns have been delivered to gun-free Korea,” sets the tone for the turmoil to come.

The teaser delivers edge-of-your-seat tension. As the ominous line “Everyone carries a trigger in their heart” echoes, the sound of gunfire rings out. From there, scenes flash of bullets and guns surfacing in unexpected places across the country. The intriguing fact is that these weapons are being delivered like ordinary packages—via courier. Amid this nationwide chaos, Lee Do begins his hunt for the truth behind the outbreak.
Moon Baek’s provocative line—”What would happen if everyone in Korea had a gun? Aren’t you curious?”—drives home the central question of the series.
Director Kwon Oh Seung describes Trigger as “a story where the kind of ‘what if’ scenarios we’ve all imagined become reality.” He adds, “This series brings firearms to the center of the narrative in a way rarely seen in Korean dramas or films.”
Trigger premieres worldwide on Netflix this coming Friday, July 25th.
