
Holy Night: Demon Hunters, the latest action vehicle starring Korean powerhouse Ma Dong Seok, debuted at #1 at the Korean box office upon its April 30th release. According to the Korean Film Council, the film attracted approximately 117,000 moviegoers on its opening day, capturing 29.4% of the market share.
Directed by Lim Dae Hee, the film follows fixer Bau (Ma Dong Seok), Sharon (Seohyun), and Kim (Lee David) as they battle against a cult that worships evil forces. The film currently holds a 70% on CGV’s Golden Egg Index, indicating mixed audience reactions. While Ma Dong Seok’s signature action sequences are met with praise, some viewers have expressed disappointment with the familiar character archetypes and predictable storyline. The film’s current cumulative audience count stands at approximately 248,000, ranking second overall.

Marvel’s latest offering, Thunderbolts, which premiered on the same day, pulled in 100,000 viewers for a second-place opening but has since dropped to third with a cumulative audience of 208,000.
Meanwhile, Yadang: The Snitch, which opened on April 16th, temporarily fell to third place due to the new releases but reclaimed the top spot on May 2nd, surpassing 1.98 million total viewers. A Minecraft Movie currently holds fourth place with 520,000 viewers, while director Min Kyu Dong’s The Old Woman With The Knife remains in fifth with approximately 82,000 viewers.
