BTS’s J-Hope successfully wrapped up his North American tour on April 7th at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
J-Hope connected with approximately 178,000 fans across 12 shows in 6 cities—Brooklyn, Chicago, Mexico City, San Antonio, Oakland, and Los Angeles.
As the first K-pop solo artist to perform at BMO Stadium, his LA concert drew major attention even before it began. For the performance of his new song “Sweet Dreams (feat. Miguel),” Miguel himself joined J-Hope to mark the grand finale of the tour.
At the end of the show, J-Hope shared: “Today marks the end of my North American tour. I was doubtful and afraid at first. But I’ve realized that by facing and experiencing many things, I come to know myself and the world. That becomes sincerity, and that sincerity becomes music, and that music reaches all of you. Thank you to ARMY for being part of that journey. I love you.
This first solo stadium concert holds great meaning for me—it’s history in itself. This stage is something you created, and everything comes together because of you. Like the name of the tour, I’m happiest when I’m on stage.”
International media praised the tour. Forbes described J-Hope’s concert as “a master class in creativity and music,” and added, “It made sense as his performance radiated joy and fervor as if he’d been waiting for this moment his whole life, despite having already performed the same set in five other cities. His charismatic energy never faltered or faded, even with the intense and intricate choreography and constant strain on his vocals.”
LA Times wrote, “With each successive city he seems to up the ante: dancing in cowboy hats and boots in San Antonio, speaking full sentences in Spanish in Mexico, even getting close enough at points to exchange hugs and hold hands” and “Hope on the Stage” in part, is a tribute to your origins as a street dancer but you also do a lot of singing [in the show] with a live band.” The outlet also highlighted his commanding presence as the first K-pop solo artist to take the BMO Stadium stage and noted his musical evolution.
J-Hope will kick off the HOPE ON THE STAGE in ASIA TOUR in Manila on April 12th and 13th. He’ll meet fans in cities including Saitama, Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Macau, Taipei and Osaka.
