Lee Yi Kyung turned heads with his gracious shoutout to ex-girlfriend Jung In Sun at an awards ceremony.
The moment occurred at the 2024 APAN Star Awards, held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza Art Hall on December 28th, where Lee Yi Kyung received the Excellence Award for Actor in a Mid-Length Drama for his role in tvN’s Marry My Husband.
Getting on the stage for his acceptance speech, he said, “The only way actors can meet each other is through projects. And even if we can’t work together, meeting at award shows is a moment to be grateful for. I thought I would never see her again, so I’m really thankful to the judges for allowing me to meet Jung In Sun. Congratulations on your award, Jung In Sun.”
Jung responded with a warm smile from the audience, having herself clinched the Acting Award for Actress in Short/Web Drama category for tvN’s O’PENing: Grand Shining Hotel.
Lee continued his speech: “I’m grateful to my ‘Marry My Husband’ team. This award is particularly meaningful because many people have recognized my acting since I’ve mainly been active in variety shows.” He continued, “It’s special because I received it for playing a villain. If anyone is thinking, ‘What? Why did he receive an excellence award?’ please watch the drama.”
The former couple’s history dates back to 2017, when they met through mutual friends and dated for approximately a year. They even co-starred in JTBC’s Welcome to Waikiki, but their relationship ended just a month and a half after publicly confirming their romance.
