SBS’s The Judge from Hell features an unexpected real-life connection—three of the actors are actual siblings. The fantasy-action series has captivated audiences with its intense storyline, but fans were surprised to learn that Kim Jae Hwa, Kim Hye Hwa, and Kim Seung Hwa, who all play key roles, are sisters off-screen.

The drama follows demon-possessed judge Kang Bit Na (Park Shin Hye), who encounters passionate detective Han Da On (Kim Jae Young). Together, they seek justice by punishing criminals, with Kang Bit Na gradually becoming a true judge. The show has been a ratings juggernaut, topping viewer charts and delivering high-octane, cathartic moments.

Among its standout characters are the three sisters, who portray complex roles that drive much of the emotional depth in the series. Kim Jae Hwa plays Jang Myeong Sook, the owner of Hwangcheon Villa, where Kang Bit Na lives. Initially a comedic character who tries to bring Kang Bit Na to church, it’s later revealed that Jang lost her son to the infamous serial killer J, bringing a heartbreaking depth to her character. Kim Jae Hwa’s portrayal of a grieving mother has left viewers in shock with her powerful and emotional performance.

Kim Hye Hwa portrays Kim So Young, a woman who becomes family to Han Da On after he loses his own to serial killer J. Her tragic death at J’s hands serves as the catalyst for Han Da On’s transformation into a darker, more vengeful character.

Finally, the youngest sister, Kim Seung Hwa, made a surprise appearance as Jang Myeong Sook’s daughter, Ju Eun. Having lost her brother to the same killer, Ju Eun grew up witnessing her mother’s torment. The real-life sisterly bond between Kim Jae Hwa and Kim Seung Hwa translated into an on-screen mother-daughter relationship that tugged at viewers’ heartstrings, earning rave reviews.

The next episodes of The Judge from Hell will air on Friday, October 25th at 10 PM KST, and Saturday, October 26th at 9:50 PM KST.
