RM of BTS has made his mark at the 29th Busan International Film Festival with the world premiere of his first documentary film, RM: Right People, Wrong Place, produced by HYBE. The film has sparked widespread excitement and glowing reviews.
The BIFF described the film as “a documentary that captures the reflections of a young man at the edge of his twenties, providing a raw and sincere voice from Kim Nam Joon as a person.” The film, which blends the making of RM’s solo album with a unique diary of youth, is the first K-pop documentary to be invited to the festival’s Open Cinema section.
After the screening, social media buzzed with posts from viewers, solidifying the film’s high anticipation. Cine21 praised RM’s daring pursuit of new paths, saying, “Rather than resting on his laurels, RM steps out of the box, turning the film into a making-of ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ and a self-exploration.” They lauded the film for not only documenting the creation of RM’s second solo album but also for delving into his personal struggles as both the leader of BTS and as an individual artist.

Fans who watched the film shared their emotional responses, with many calling it essential viewing. Comments ranged from “Kim Nam Joon doesn’t take the easy road, and that’s what makes him a unique person,” to “You need to see this film to truly understand and complete the album.” One fan wrote, “Thank you for showing us RM not just as an artist but as a person.” Another viewer added, “The sound of rain and the cool autumn breeze… seeing him smile like a boy and hearing his deep thoughts brought laughter and heartache in equal measure.”
