Global superstar group BTS will headline the first-ever major halftime show in World Cup Finals history.
According to The New York Times and other media outlets on May 13th, FIFA announced that BTS, Madonna and Shakira have been selected as headliners for the 2026 World Cup Final Halftime Show, which will take place on July 19th at MetLife Stadium.
Chris Martin is overseeing artist curation for the performance, while Global Citizen will handle production.
Previously, FIFA and Global Citizen held a trial performance during last summer’s Club World Cup final featuring artists including Doja Cat.
The 2026 World Cup will be hosted across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico and Canada. This year’s event is expected to place greater emphasis on entertainment elements to attract broader global audiences beyond traditional sports viewers.
The opening performance on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles will reportedly feature a star-studded lineup including Lisa, Katy Perry, Future and Anitta.
