The hit tvN weekend drama Love Next Door wrapped up on the 6th with a heartwarming and humorous finale that captured the essence of a true healing rom-com.
In the final episode, Choi Seung Hyo (Jung Hae In) and Bae Seok Ryu (Jung So Min) put their wedding plans on hold, choosing to focus on their relationship, while the Hyereung-dong family continues their charming and simple life together. The finale achieved a record high, with viewership ratings peaking at 10.7% in the Seoul metropolitan area and 9.5% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea.
In this episode, Choi Seung Hyo prepared a special gift for Bae Seok Ryu. He started construction on a restaurant for her in the very spot where her father Baek Geun Sik (Cho Han Cheul) had his old snack shop. In truth, the gift was Geun Sik’s idea, and Choi Seung Hyo delivered it with the heartfelt message, “This is something from the two men who love you most,” adding, “Make food that’s just you, and let it comfort and heal those who need it.” Soon after, Seok Ryu opened her dream restaurant, Rainbow Kitchen.
In an unexpected turn, Seok Ryu postponed their wedding a year, and instead planned a remarriage ceremony for Seung Hyo’s parents, Seo Hye Sook (Jang Young Nam) and Choi Kyung Jong (Lee Seung Joon), who had found happiness again after forgiveness and reconciliation. Moved by the sight of their love and joy, the two promised each other, “Let’s take photos like them 30 years from now, warm and full of love.”
Meanwhile, upon learning that Jung Mo Eum had been assigned to a research station in Antarctica, Kang Dan Ho (Yun Jion) and Kang Yeon Doo (Sim Ji Yoo) bid her farewell, making promises to wait for her return. Ten months later, Kang Dan Ho planned a special article on life at an Antarctic research station, hinting at a reunion with Jung Mo Eum in one of the world’s most beautiful and remote places.
