Taeyong from the multinational K-pop group NCT is enlisting in the navy, becoming the first member of the group to begin his mandatory military service. On the 15th, Taeyong commences his 20-month service, entering the military without any public ceremony to prevent safety accidents and ensure privacy.

On the eve of his enlistment, Taeyong connected with fans through a live broadcast on Weverse, where he shared heartfelt emotions. “Let’s meet again, everyone. I love and cherish you all,” he expressed. As the broadcast concluded, Taeyong held back tears, saying, “If I keep doing this (broadcast), I might start crying.” He saluted his fans, removed his beanie, and revealed his newly shaven head, adding to the emotional moment.

Throughout, Taeyong continued to show affection and gratitude toward his fans, who responded with tears and supportive messages like “Crying as I see the tears in your eyes,” “Always on Taeyong’s side,” and “We will wait for you!”

Taeyong is a prominent member of NCT, a 26-member boy group managed by SM Entertainment, known for their unit activities. He debuted in 2016 with NCT U and subsequently with NCT 127, producing hits like “Kick It,” “2 Baddies” and “Fact Check.” Beyond group activities, Taeyong released his first solo album SHALALA in June last year and has been recognized for his exceptional dancing skills, even serving as a judge on the dance survival show Street Woman Fighter.

As Taeyong begins his military duty, fans are rallying their support for him, with his expected discharge date set for December 14th, 2025.
