On March 19th, IU took to her YouTube channel “IU Official” to share a heartwarming vlog titled “Buying a birthday present for my little brother vlog.” The video, documenting her opulent shopping journey in Los Angeles to find the perfect belated birthday gift for her brother, Lee Jong Hoon, immediately captured the audience’s attention.

After the release of the video, Interest spiked over the black premium card IU used to settle the purchase. Revealed to be Woori Bank’s “TWO CHAIRS” black card, this exclusive piece of plastic is reserved for the top-tier clients of Woori Financial’s VIP asset management service, “Two Chairs,” available only to those with an annual fee of KRW 2.5 million (approx. USD 2,080) and deposits exceeding KRW 5 billion (USD 4.16 million).

The perks of holding such an exclusive card include a 2% reward on all domestic and international purchases, without any spending limit or cap on rewards earned. For expenditures over KRW 100 million (USD 83,000) a year, an additional 1% is rewarded. Cardholders also enjoy access to luxury airport lounges worldwide up to eight times a month for up to three guests, unlimited complimentary services at top-tier hotels and airport valet parking, along with department store vouchers worth KRW 1 million (USD 833) and hotel dining vouchers worth KRW 500,000 (USD 416).

This revelation has brought IU’s financial status back into the limelight. A December 2022 episode of KBS’s Entertainment Weekly Plus highlighted that IU had acquired a luxurious villa in Seoul’s Gangnam district for KRW 13 billion (USD 10.83 million), astonishingly paid in full in cash. Additionally, IU owns a country house in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, purchased for KRW 3 billion (USD 2.5 million), now inhabited by her family.
