Following its debut on January 26th, SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama Flex x Cop has been capturing hearts and ratings, leaving fans eagerly anticipating a second season. According to Starnews on March 18th, preparations for the sequel are well underway, buoyed by the first season’s success in achieving double-digit viewership.

Flex x Cop combines comic action and mystery as it follows a rich guy who becomes a detective in the violent crimes unit. The collaboration between My Name writer Kim Ba Da and The Fiery Priest director Kim Jae Hong has proven to be a formidable team. With a cast featuring Ahn Bo Hyun, Park Ji Hyun, Kwak Si Yang, and more, the drama has quickly become a staple of the Friday-Saturday roster.

Flex x Cop has solidified its place with a peak national viewership rating of 11% (provided by Nielsen Korea). This performance has set the stage for the series to follow in the footsteps of successful franchises from SBS like Taxi Driver, Dr. Romantic, and The Fiery Priest by confirming another season.

A significant part of the show’s appeal has been Ahn Bo Hyun’s portrayal of Jin Yi Soo, a character who navigates the strict hierarchy and discipline of the police force with his wealth and fearless problem-solving skills. His swift and satisfying justice delivery has resonated with audiences, offering both vicarious satisfaction and entertainment.

With only two episodes left until its conclusion on March 23rd, anticipation for a sequel is building. The production team shared with Starnews, “We are preparing for Season 2. Writer Kim Ba Da has already begun work on the Season 2 script, and we are in positive discussions with Ahn Bo Hyun, Park Ji Hyun, and other leading actors about their involvement, as well as coordinating schedules.”
