During the recent Netflix film My Name is Loh Kiwan movie talk titled “Meeting Loh Kiwan” at the MegaBox COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, Song Joong Ki shared a touching moment of reflection about the late Lee Sun Kyun.

At the end of the event on March 3rd, the actor revealed, “After the film was first released on Netflix and I watched it again, I found myself thinking of a dear friend who passed away last year-end. I took some time to write a letter to him in my heart,” mentioning the late Lee Sun Kyun.

“While it may not be a grand movie, if it makes you feel something in your heart, I hoped it would serve as an opportunity to think of those around us,” Song Joong Ki continued. “I hope it becomes a small movie that allows you to write letters to those you’re thinking of, to tell them they fully deserve happiness.”

Previously, at the Busan International Film Festival’s Actors House last year, Song Joong Ki reminisced about his connection with Lee Sun Kyun through the drama Triple, saying, “He took such good care of me. If I were waiting, he’d call me out of the car saying, ‘Come here, kiddo,’ and treat me to jjajangmyeon and daytime drinks. I really adore Sun Kyun.”

Released on March 1st, My Name is Loh Kiwan tells the captivating tale of a North Korean defector, Kiwan (Song Joong Ki), who arrives in Belgium clinging to his last hope of life, and Marie (Choi Sung Eun), a woman who has lost her reason to live. Drawn irresistibly to each other, the film weaves their poignant story. Song Joong Ki embodies the character of Kiwan, a defector heading to Berlin to survive, while Choi Sung Eun portrays Marie, a former Korean shooting athlete with Belgian nationality.
