Lee Min Ho took center stage in a recent photoshoot for Dazed Korea, capturing hearts once again with his mesmerizing charm. In the interview that followed, the actor went candid about his perspectives on life and acting.

Mentioning the Boys Over Flower reels that’s been going around on Instagram, Lee chuckled, “Back then, it all seemed plausible. But looking back now, some parts do seem quite over-the-top.”

It’s that long-standing shared memory with the public that makes it endearing. “I was only 23 when I played Goo Jun Pyo. Surprisingly, I never felt out of place with the character’s unique hairstyle or his signature gestures.” After mentioning his role in the upcoming drama When the Stars Gossip as an ob/gyn traveling to outer space, he mused, “I guess I’m inclined to stories that are more fantastical, stories with grand narratives.”

When asked about his current, more grounded image, Lee confessed that turning thirty was quite melancholic for him.”I probably spent an entire month humming to Kim Kwang Seok’s ‘Around Thirty.'” Lee fondly recalls the years between 26 and 28, “It felt like I could swing in any direction, embodying both youthful mischief and maturity. I could behave like a boy, show my playful side, or even come off to look mature.” He added, “But now, even if it doesn’t show, there’s an underlying sentiment within this calm facade. Something is waiting to manifest, and I’m looking forward to it.”

When probed about the state of the world, Lee was quick to respond, “It seems to be deteriorating.” He elaborated, “As culture and eras evolve, there’s a diminishment in genuine human experiences. We’re amidst constant progress, yet we’re moving towards a society where direct communication is becoming obsolete.”

So, what does he think is needed in our society now? The actor exclaims with a hearty laugh, “Content, definitely.” He continued, “I genuinely believe that we can rediscover intrinsic human emotions through diverse content. Isn’t that the key to understanding our purpose and leading a more energetic life?”
