BTS’s Jungkook is firming up his stance as an unrivaled male solo artist in the global music market with his first solo single, Seven.
According to the latest chart (as of July 15th) released by Spotify, Jungkook’s “Seven,” released on the 14th, was streamed 13,485,590 times a day, securing the top spot on the “Global Daily Top Songs” for two consecutive days.
Jungkook also took first place for two consecutive days on Japan’s Oricon “Daily Digital Single Ranking” (as of July 15th) with “Seven ‘Clean Ver.” The “Explicit Ver.” of the song ranked third.
“Seven” swept the top of music charts both at home and abroad upon its release, creating a new record. As a Korean solo singer, Jungkook made an unprecedented entrance directly to number one on the Spotify Global Chart. He also climbed to the top spot on the Melon TOP 10, setting a new record for the “fastest time” among male solo singers.
Big Hit Music stated, “Jungkook is the first Korean solo artist to enter and immediately take first place on the Spotify Global Chart,” adding, “The number of ‘Seven’ streams is the highest ever recorded by a new entry on the ‘Global Top Songs.'” Previously, BTS’s Jimin had also entered this chart at number two with his solo song “Like Crazy” in March, later reclaiming the top spot.
Meanwhile, Jungkook kicked off his solo promotions by performing as the opening act in the 2023 GMA Summer Concert Series.
