Hospital Playlist is all set for a nostalgic rewind.
According to exclusive coverage by Starnew today, Director Shin Won Ho will helm a new show closely related to the beloved Hospital Playlist series.
In this upcoming project, a director other than Shin Won Ho will helm the production. The plot will center around the college days of the band “Mido and Falasol” formed by Lee Ik Jun, Chae Song Hwa, Kim Jun Wan, Ahn Jung Won, and Yang Seok Hyung. It aims to reminisce about the days approximately 20 years ago before they became doctors.
While the original run of Hospital Playlist did feature flashbacks to the characters’ college days with the main actors portraying their younger selves, this new series will focus predominantly on the past, meaning the original leads – Jo Jung Suk, Jeon Mi Do, Jung Kyung Ho, Yoo Yeon Seok, Kim Dae Myung – will not be appearing. However, the character names will remain the same.
This marks a unique venture as it is the first instance of a drama featuring adult actors creating a fresh rendition focusing on the characters’ younger years after the series conclusion.
Currently, the Shin Won Ho squad is holding open auditions for actors, a staple method in their Hospital Playlist and Reply series. The casting team uniquely executed these auditions by involving only the actors, without any staff presence. During the auditions, the actors were required to perform improvisation based on given scenarios, without being provided with specific scripts or character descriptions. The crew is reportedly in the thick of the casting process, primarily considering rookie actors.
Hospital Playlist is a medical series by Shin Won Ho, which started in March 2020, centering on the lives of five medical school classmates.
tvN has announced the production of a prequel or season finale drama for the popular drama Hospital Playlist. However, tvN clarified that it will be a new drama rather than a prequel or spin off.
According to tvN on June 1st, they stated to iMBC Entertainment, “Shin Won Ho will helm the drama series as a creator. The show is still in the early planning stages, so we cannot disclose specific details about the drama, but auditions for actors are currently underway. It is not a ‘prequel’ or ‘spin off.’ It is difficult to confirm the production and broadcast schedule at this time due to scheduling issues.”
