Professional cyclist Jung Hae Min opened up about Physical: 100‘s ongoing allegations of a rigged finale.
In a recent interview with Ilyo Newspaper, Jung Hae Min revealed that the production crew stopped the final match several times due to “equipment issues,” and because of that, he lost the final match with the grand prize of 300 million won (about $245,000).
Recalling the final match, Jung Hae Min explained why the first round stopped. “When we started the rope-pulling game, the difference (in our ropes) was drastic. My friends who watched it told me that he was moving three times faster,” he commented. “About halfway into the game, Woo Jin Yong raised his hand. The match stopped, and he stated there was a technical issue with the equipment, saying, ‘It’s making too much sound.'”
The second round started after the crew lowered the rope tension, but it was cut out because of audio issues. Jung Hae Min insisted, “They needed my approval for a rematch, so I went ahead with the third round, but I was already all out of my strength that I couldn’t pull on the rope. And like that, I lost the game.”
“I’m not saying I want first place or a rematch. I’m not saying I want the money. And I wish there will be no attacks on Woo Jin Young,” Jung Hae Min then stressed. “I asked the production team to include in the show why I lost the match, but they refused, saying a contestant doesn’t get a say in editing.”
Regarding this, the Physical: 100 crew stated, “The rumors that there were several rematches for the finale are not true. There were a few rounds where the game was paused and resumed at the beginning to check on the audio system and adjust according to the contestants’ opinions, but there wasn’t a rematch that overturned the result of the game that had already ended or rescinding the process (of a match).”
