Island, the series TVING ambitiously prepared for, was seconded by the Netflix hit series The Glory.
According to the OTT Series Popularity Ranking by Good Data (January 2nd to 8th), The Glory took first place, taking 73.5% of the share, among the 14 projects from OTT platforms. This is a 19.5% rise compared to the last week when the show was first released and nine times higher than that of Island (7.9%), which came in second.
The Glory also ranked first in the TV/OTT Combined Popularity Ranking (14 OTT shows and 19 TV shows) with 43% of the share. This is twice the share for tvN’s Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow that ranked in second place.
The Glory cast also swept the cast popularity ranking. While Song Hye Kyo ranked first for the second week, Lim Ji Yeon (2nd), Lee Do Hyun (3rd), Jung Sung Il (5th), Park Sung Hoon (7th), Cha Joo Young (10th), and Kim Hieora (11th) also put their names in the chart. However, Island‘s Kim Nam Gil dropped from 3rd place to 9th, while Cha Eun Woo was pushed out of the Top 10.
Meanwhile, Island is relatively showing strong performance abroad. According to FlixPatrol, the show ranked 9th in the Top 10 Global TV Shows as of the 8th. It ranked first in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand immediately after its release and also ranked within the Top 10 in 24 countries including Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
