BIGBANG finally returned with new music in four years since we last heard from them. Their new single is currently dominating major music charts and Melon’s Top 100 chart in South Korea.
According to the music industry on the 5th, “Still Life” features minimal instrumentation and soulful vocals of the band, highlighting the shift in their music from hip-hop to rock and soul.
YG Entertainment shared, “BIGBANG focused solely on music this time. They used this new single to communicate with music fans with sincere gratitude.”
Unlike the practice of the South Korean music market, which normally releases new songs at 6 PM, the boy band’s new single topped major music charts despite its late-night release at midnight.
BIGBANG has been embroiled in many controversies, most notably G-Dragon and T.O.P‘s drug scandal. Therefore, many had negative views regarding their music comeback in the K-pop scene. However, the industry insiders are carefully assessing that the song’s success may pave the way for BIGBANG’s future activities.
