Former Wonder Girls member Sunye had a very emotional reunion with Park Jin Young (JYP) and Sunmi.
On the 20th broadcast of tvN’s Mama the Idol, Park Jin Young and Sunmi made a guest appearance for a special duet with Sunye. It has been 13 years since Sunye and Sunmi performed together on stage, considering that they were last seen together on TV in 2009. Later in the episode, the two bandmates performed Sunmi’s hit song “Gashina” together.
Sunye apologized for causing an inconvenience to the group due to her sudden marriage and childbirth and teared up when Sunmi comforted her. Sunmi told Sunye, “I got emotional all of a sudden and nearly cried. Don’t worry about it. If it wasn’t for you, Wonder Girls would not have existed at all.”
Sunye also did a duet performance with her former agency’s CEO Park Jin Young. She sang “Farewell Under the Sun” and Park Jin Young played the piano along with her singing.
After finishing the stage, Sunye burst into tears she had been holding back. She said, “Park Jin Young wholeheartedly supported me when I decided to get married and leave Wonder Girls. He even sang a song for us at my wedding. I’m truly grateful for him.” Park Jin Young patted Sunye on the shoulder, saying, “I was really worried back then when she said she was going to get married at such a young age. But now I’m very proud of her.”
