On the 15th, Hollywood media Deadline reported that Robert Downey Jr. had found his next big role to tackle in Park Chan Wook’s upcoming drama series.
After officially putting away his Iron Man armor in Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. appears to have found his next role in the upcoming series. He will reportedly appear as the main antagonist, and his spouse Susan Downey will also be on board for the production.
Based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s novel, The Sympathizer will be the director’s second TV series to bring him back to the small screen following his 2018 British television show.
The Sympathizer is a story about a former Vietnamese officer who becomes a CIA operative. Subsequently, right after the Vietnam War, he becomes a double agent among North Vietnam, South Vietnam, and the US. Notably, the original novel had won the Pulitzer, the Edgar Prize, and Andrew Carnegie medal for excellence in fiction in 2016.
