Han So Hee is in the center of everyone’s attention due to her gorgeous yet elegant looks and solid acting skills. She debuted in SBS’s Reunited Worlds as Lee Seo Won in 2017. Then, in tvN’s 100 Days My Prince, she played the Crown Princess Kim So Hye, who cannot earn Prince Yul’s love even though she has all the wealth and power in the country. Later, in tvN’s Abyss in 2019, she played Jang Hee Jin, who risks her life for love.
Han So Hee secured her place in the industry with JTBC’s The World of the Married (2020) four years after her debut. She played Yeo Da Kyung, a complex character who falls in love with a married man and destroys his family. Even after getting the love, she grows anxious and eventually gives up the relationship. She even gained a new nickname, “the national mistress,” as her popularity rose with the drama. She won the Best Female Rising Star at Korea First Brand Awards 2021 and Rookie of the Year at Asia Artist Awards in 2020. After shooting her last episode, she expressed her intention to play more versatile characters in various genres, saying she ‘want to get away from Yeo Da Kyung.’
Currently, Han is playing Yu Na Bi, a college student in JTBC’s Nevertheless, who is eager to date someone while not believing in love. Her partner is Song Kang. In the first episode, she portrayed the frustration when she faced the fact that her artist boyfriend had taken advantage of her. And, also she showed her excitement to begin a new heart-fluttering relationship with Song Kang. Yoo Na Bi certainly looks very different from Yeo Na Kyung in her previous work.
In an interview, Han So Hee shared, “Na Bi in Nevertheless and I have a lot in common. Although I didn’t purposefully choose to play someone very different from my last role, I happened to catch a role that I feel more comfortable with. So I tried to focus on her feelings more this time.”
Han So Hee played the female solo lead in the Netflix Original My Name. She plays Yoon Ji Woo, an undercover agent of an organization who seeks revenge for her dead father. She will perform challenging fight scenes to portray a character different from her previous roles. Recently, she is contemplating starring in the drama Kyungsung Creature (literal title), a story about wounds, anxiety, survival, and human dignity.
Han So Hee is a qualified actress, just like her drama’s title, as if she knows having the right skill sets are the only way to become a rising star.
Editor Seo Hayne: I like actors as they faithfully lead through their long running-time. I also like idols who accomplish everything on stage within 3 minutes.
Translator Cho EK: I’m a big fan of Korean dramas and movies.
