‘Fighter’ and ‘Short Vacation’ Invited to the 71st Berlin Film Festival

Two independent films achieved a meaningful feat amid the difficulties in theaters in the aftermath of the pandemic.

It has been announced that Fighter and Short Vacation were listed in the Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus sections of the Berlin International Film Festival.

First of all, Beautiful Days director Yoon Jae Ho’s second feature film Fighter depicts the growth and journey of the North Korean refugee Ji Na as she faces her life straight on and finds the meaning of her life for the first time through boxing. Last year, it was honored with the NETPAC Award and Actor of the Year award.

Kwon Min Pyo and Seo Han Sol’s feature debut film Short Vacation is a road movie that follows So Jung, Yeon Woo, Song Hee, and Si Yeon as they work on their middle school’s photo club homework “Photo the end of the world with a film camera” during the vacation.

According to the festival organizer, Generation Kplus Crystal Bears are awarded by the Children’s Jury consisting of 11 children aged between 11 and 14, while the Generation 14plus Crystal Bears are awarded by the Youth Jury consisting of seven young people aged between 14 and 18.

Until now, Kim Bo Ra (House of Hummingbird), Yoon Ga Eun (Sprout), and Shin So Won (Pluto) have been awarded these Generation awards.

Meanwhile, this year’s Berlin International Film Festival will be held online next month. Earlier, director Hong Sang Soo’s Introduction announced its entry into the competition sector.
