Band SE SO NEON has released their first single for 2021, “Jayu.”
According to their agency Magic Strawberry Sound, SE SO NEON will demonstrate their courage for finding their own freedom while facing fears in the world.
“Jayu” is composed with the full sound of a 12-string guitar, multiple layers, and ritardando which bring them down as well as drum and bass sounds in the latter half of the song. The vocoder and ambient sounds are well mixed within the track to confuse the sense of space and time. All together, the song heralds SE SO NEON’s another step towards their freedom.
Hwang So Yoon also talked about the song saying, “After our second EP Nonadaptation, I thought about what stories we could tell, and came up with ‘how to face our fears.’ ‘What makes me complete?’ Eventually, the word ‘Jayu’ (which translates to Freedom) came to me, and thinking about freedom allowed fears to naturally dissolve away. It’s such a powerful word. I expect this song, to some, to be a time to reflect on the freedom they’ve been pushing away.”
Earlier on the 2nd, the teaser video for “Jayu” released on SE SO NEON’s official channel drew attention as actor Yoo Ah In made a special appearance.
“Jayu” has been released through various music platforms at 6 p.m. KST on the 5th. They are to perform their first live stage of “Jayu” today (6th) on MBC’s Show! Music Core.
