Earlier this year, a “power trip” controversy shocked the entertainment industry. A stylist wrote a lengthy post on her social media claiming that a famous idol verbally abused her to the point where she burst into tears. Though she didn’t name the “abuser,” her hashtags #monster and #psycho narrowed down the list to one person – Red Velvet’s Irene.
As the controversy quickly got out of hand, Irene and SM Entertainment came forward to officially apologize to the stylist. Though most netizens were shocked by Irene’s rude actions and flocked to criticize the idol, other staff stepped up to defend her from malicious comments.
Two months have passed since then, and the topics have moved on to other controversies and incidents, but the stylist’s recent post caught the attention once again.
Recently, she wrote on her Instagram Story, “Please stop bothering me. Don’t threaten me. It’s a crime and cost dearly. She doesn’t want it either. I’m doing silent for her sake. This is my last request. Please and please.”
One netizen revealed on an online community that not only are the international fans attacking the stylist, but Korean fans have exposed the stylist’s personal information to leave more malicious and vicious comments. According to the netizen’s post, they are even manufacturing unconfirmed rumors as facts to further cause pain for the stylist.
Seeing the post, netizens left comments like: “This is absurd. What’s the point of attacking the stylist when Irene already admitted her wrongdoing?” “Some people are just so mean.” “These fans are the definition of crazy.” “I’m guessing they just need someone they can attack.”
