Hyun Bin reportedly donated a large amount of money to support citizens and medical staff who are suffering from the new Coronavirus (COVID-19). Even his agency, VAST Entertainment, had never known the first thing about his contribution until the news was reported.

According to the exclusive report by Star News (the Korean entertainment news media) on March 3, Hyun Bin contributed KRW 200 million in donations related to COVID-19 to the Community Chest of Korea, a local nonprofit organization also known as ‘The Fruit of Love‘, in late February. The fact was belatedly confirmed because he hadn’t told his agency about it while asking the charity not to make his donation public.

Ahead of his donation, Hyun Bin wrote a letter to fans to share his concerns and best wishes regarding the spread of COVID-19 on Feb. 21 (his letter was posted on VAST Entertainment’s official SNS channels). He is said to have donated secretly after writing the letter and searching for the charities to which he should donate.

Meanwhile, Hyun Bin’s upcoming film Bargaining (also known as Negotiation) recently had a setback in its shooting schedules since the government of Jordan, one of the locations in which the movie is to be filmed, has prohibited Koreans from entering the nation due to the aftermath of COVID-19. Nevertheless, the actor is said to have chosen to donate to help people overcome Coronavirus even amid his struggling circumstances.
