Lee Dong Wook and Kim Hye Jun are back with even stronger chemistry.
Reuniting as uncle and niece ahead of Disney Plus’s A Shop for Killers Season 2, Lee Dong Wook and Kim Hye Jun brought their deepened on-screen bond to a new ELLE Korea pictorial, capturing the weight of everything Jeong Jin Man and Jeong Ji An have endured together.
In the interview after the shoot, Lee opened up about playing Jeong Jin Man again, saying that rather than discovering something new about the character, he feels himself getting closer to him.
“Season 2 wasn’t part of the plan when the project first started,” Lee said. “Rather than locking Jeong Jin Man into a certain mold, I chose to let him. To me, he’s still a character in progress.”
Lee also spoke warmly about reuniting with Kim. Referring to something he had jokingly told her since Season 1, he said, “I always tell Hye Jun, ‘You have more screen time, so you have to work harder.’”
“When we met again on the Season 2 set, it didn’t feel awkward at all,” he recalled. “It felt like we had filmed yesterday and were meeting again today.”
Kim pointed to the larger-scale action as one of the biggest changes in Season 2. While Season 1 built tension within a limited space, the new season will unfold on a much broader stage with a wider range of action.
She also shared how she prepared for the gun action, revealing that she became so immersed that she carried a gun around in her daily routine to make it feel like part of her body. “I think I spent more time living as Jeong Ji An than as Kim Hye Jun,” she shared.
Kim also expressed her trust in Lee, describing him as a senior actor who always gives her room to take the lead while firmly holding the center.
On the relationship between Jeong Jin Man and Jeong Ji An, Kim said, “They didn’t become alike because they wanted to. At some point, they had already become alike,” capturing the complex emotions between the two characters.
A Shop for Killers Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney Plus in July.
