Kim You Jung and Park Jin Young have teamed up for a romantic photoshoot with Elle.
The two stars, who are showing great chemistry in the tvN drama 100 Days of Deception, brought 1930s romance to life in the photoshoot. The photos captured the pair in a timeless, elegant setting.
In an interview following the shoot, the actors discussed their first reactions to learning they would star together. Kim You Jung plays Ga Gyeong, a pickpocket who becomes a spy in Gyeongseong, while Park Jin Young plays Tae Woong, a skilled interpreter for the Japanese Governor-General during the Japanese colonial period.
“I was really happy when I heard the news,” Kim You Jung said. “I liked Park Jin Young’s previous work, and I thought he was a perfect fit for the Tae Woong I’d imagined.”

Park Jin Young shared a similar feeling. “When I received the script, Kim You Jung had already been cast as Ga Gyeong, and that was a big reason I decided to take the role,” he said. “I felt that working with her would bring out sides of me I hadn’t even discovered myself. And that turned out to be true.”
The two also talked about what they had learned about each other while working together. Park Jin Young praised his co-star, saying, “Kim You Jung has many different sides to her. She’s always full of energy and is very versatile as an actress.”
Kim You Jung said her first impression of Park Jin Young was that he was warm and kind. “He’s very clear in how he expresses himself. Whether he’s showing his emotions, setting a mood, or saying something, I can always understand what he’s trying to convey,” she said.

The actors also reflected on portraying young people living in the 1930s. Kim You Jung said the experience left her feeling grateful and helped her realize how much young people from that era had in common with those today.
“The worries young people had back then aren’t that different from the ones we have now,” she said. “The cast and crew all put their hearts into this project with that understanding.”
Park Jin Young added, “Young people wonder how they should live and what kind of person they want to become. Even though the story takes place in a different era, it’s ultimately about people, love, and friendship. Our job was to understand what our characters were feeling and bring those emotions to life.”

The full photoshoot and interview will appear in the November issue of Elle and on the magazine’s website. More content featuring the pair, including YouTube videos, will also be released soon.
