Kim You Jung has reportedly moved from Hannam-dong’s upscale UN Village area to a monthly rental apartment in Seoul’s Seongdong District, drawing attention to her choice to rent rather than buy.

According to YouTube channel “Wander Planet” on October 10th, the actress is currently living at Hillstate Seoul Forest River in Geumho-dong under a lease that combines a deposit with monthly rent.

The eight-year-old apartment complex offers views of the Han River and is known as a popular residence among celebrities and wealthy residents.

Kim’s decision to rent has drawn particular interest given that she has worked as an actress since childhood and is presumed to have accumulated significant wealth over her career.

Real estate observers, however, note that renting a high-end property does not necessarily reflect a lack of purchasing power. For wealthy tenants, monthly rental arrangements can offer greater liquidity and flexibility while avoiding tying up large amounts of capital in a single property.

“More affluent people are choosing to keep their cash assets liquid while remaining flexible amid volatility in the real estate market,” one industry source said, adding that renting can be part of a broader asset-management strategy rather than simply a housing expense.

Online reactions included comments such as, “Even celebrities seem to be becoming more practical about how they choose to live,” and, “I’d happily rent too if it came with that Han River view.”
