Director Kim Jong Kwan’s new film The Table: Day and Night, selected as the opening film of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, is heading to Korean theaters in November.

Along with the release announcement, the film has unveiled its first teaser poster and trailer, offering a glimpse at four couples whose stories unfold in the same cafe over the course of a season.

The Table: Day and Night is described as a warm and playful film built around conversations that take place during the day and night as different people pass through the cafe. It marks the latest feature from Kim, whose previous films include Josée and The Killers.

The ensemble cast features Kim Min Ha and Joo Jong Hyuk, Han Sun Hwa and Jang Ryul, Shim Eun Kyung and Lee Hee Joon, and Jeon So Young and Kim Dong Hwi, with each pair capturing a different stage and emotion of love.

The colorful teaser poster places the four pairs between the words “DAY AND NIGHT,” offering snapshots of their contrasting relationships. Yoo Jin (Kim Min Ha) and Hyun Oh (Joo Jong Hyuk) stand apart and look in different directions, while Sang Mi (Han Sun Hwa) cups the face of a startled Young Min (Jang Ryul). Hye Jin (Shim Eun Kyung) appears uneasy as she listens to Dong Nam (Lee Hee Joon), while Na Kyung (Jeon So Young) and Jong Soo (Kim Dong Hwi) sit across from each other at a distance.

The teaser trailer follows the characters through the cafe from summer into fall, moving between daytime and nighttime as their relationships take shape. Yoo Jin and Hyun Oh share an almost dreamlike connection, Sang Mi and Young Min experience an unexpected and unusual reunion, Hye Jin and Dong Nam have an intense first encounter, and Na Kyung and Jong Soo face a bittersweet final moment.

Together, their stories explore the excitement, uncertainty, curiosity and hesitation that accompany different moments of love, echoing the teaser’s tagline: “Every moment we loved is here.”

The Table: Day and Night will have its world premiere as the opening film of the 31st Busan International Film Festival before opening in theaters across South Korea in November.
