Ha Young will ultimately leave the upcoming season of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.

MyDaily reported on September 1st that Ha Young has decided to withdraw from Season 2 of the Netflix original series, which was scheduled to begin filming in October.

Earlier reports suggested Ha Young would remain in the cast, but she reportedly informed the production team that she would be unable to participate.

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call follows genius surgeon Baek Kang Hyuk as he returns from the battlefield and takes on the challenge of rebuilding an understaffed trauma team. Following Season 1’s success, Seasons 2 and 3 will be filmed back-to-back. Season 1 director Lee Do Yoon will also write the scripts for the new seasons.

Ju Ji Hoon, Choo Young Woo, Ha Young and Yoon Kyung Ho were all expected to return, but Ha Young will no longer be part of the cast following the controversy surrounding her great-grandfather.

Ha Young had previously spoken proudly about her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang Ho, in interviews and on television, introducing him as the first person to open a Western medicine clinic in Hanyang. However, historical records have painted a different picture.

In a December 1918 interview with The Chosun Ilbo, then an official newspaper of the Japanese Government-General of Korea, Ahn Sang Ho reportedly said, “I am the same as a Japanese person. I don’t have a single Korean outfit. I have no dealings with Koreans, so there are no inconveniences.” He also described raising his children in a Japanese manner and had served as an official in the Household of H. H. Prince Ri, a colonial institution under Japanese rule.

The controversy has also affected Ha Young’s career. She was unable to actively participate in promotional activities for Netflix’s Our Sticky Love after its release, and her advertising contracts were reportedly terminated.

Meanwhile, her SBS drama The Long Shot Trial is moving forward as planned, with filming set to wrap in two days. SBS has repeatedly said it is “carefully discussing” and “coordinating in various ways” regarding Ha Young’s involvement. The network has not announced any changes to the drama’s broadcast plans.
