Ha Young is facing continued public attention over controversy surrounding her great-grandfather’s alleged pro-Japanese activities during the colonial period, as she prepares to begin filming for Netflix’s popular series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Season 2 in October.
Trauma Center, which became a major hit after its release last year, helped establish Ha Young as a rising actress. The upcoming second season will feature the return of the main cast, with Ha Young reprising her role as nurse Chun Jang Mi.
Netflix has not released an official statement regarding the controversy. However, the platform has taken a cautious approach by not releasing some promotional content featuring Ha Young. Meanwhile, her Netflix series Our Sticky Love has continued to perform well on the platform’s charts since its release.
Some observers have suggested that Netflix is closely monitoring the situation. At this time, filming for The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Season 2 is expected to proceed as planned, with production scheduled to begin in October.
Ha Young previously apologized for the controversy, saying she reflected on having mentioned her family history too casually. However, public criticism continued after additional allegations emerged, including reports that her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang Ho, was listed as a member of a committee preparing a memorial event for Ito Hirobumi, a former Japanese prime minister during the colonial era.
Meanwhile, there have also been updates regarding Ha Young’s role as an emergency medical services ambassador for South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare, a position she has held since December 2025.
The ministry said it will not remove Ha Young from the ambassador role, noting that her contract runs until September and that her official promotional activities have already ended. However, a public service announcement featuring Ha Young has been made private.
Attention is now focused on whether the controversy will affect Ha Young’s upcoming projects, including The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Season 2.
